Meet the experienced and friendly doctors and staff who make John E. Casto, OD, PC the leading provider of vision care products and services in St. Albanes.

Dr. John E. Casto

Dr. Casto, a native West Virginian, did his undergraduate college work at Marshall University and is a graduate of the Southern College of Optometry, Memphis, Tennessee. Upon graduation Dr. Casto served as Chief of Eye Services, US Army 319 Station Hospital, Verdun France and after completion of his military service returned to St. Albans in 1964 to begin his private practice of Optometry.

Dr. Casto has held numerous offices in professional organizations including President of the West Virginia Optometric Association, the West Virginia Board of Examiners in Optometry, President of the Southern Council of Optometry (representing a 12 southern state area) and as adjunct professor and a trustee of the Southern College of Optometry. He was named “West Virginia Optometrist of the Year” in 1976 and in 1978 the Southern Council awarded him as the “ Optometrist of the South”.

Locally, Dr. Casto has been active in many civic organizations including President of the Chamber of Commerce, President of the St. Albans Regional Development Authority (STARDA), Chairman of the Urban Renewal Authority, creator and first President of the St. Albans High Alumni Association and the recipient of the Gary King Community Service Award in 2000.

Dr.Casto specializes in, treatmeant of Ocular Disease, pre and post operative surgical treatment, specialty contact lens, including custom Toric, HGB Bifocal and Keratoconus.

Dr. Casto and his wife Jan live in St. Albans. Jan currently works for the State of West Virginia as a Deputy Secretary of State. They have three children and eight grand children.
